Tina is a 23 year old aspiring novelist and karaoke enthusiast living in NYC. She has lived in the city her whole life with her mom and little brother, but would love to visit London and try out her French in Paris. She is a brand new vegetarian, and she loves taking pictures (portraits and candids are her favorites!) with one of the great loves of her life, her digital camera. On a rare free day, she can be found at Barnes and Noble, or a movie theater most likely-or maybe at home playing Scrabble!

There’s nothing like a good multi-tasker to make you feel on top of things. And in the spirit of multi-tasking, I bring you a kid-friendly, grownup-friendly, HEALTH-friendly snack that satisfies my hunger pangs with little inconvenience.
Let’s examine it as a three parter, shall we? First I’ll hit the health angle, then move on to convenience (because let’s face it, rarely do we have time to get all gourmet at snacktime), and finally, taste. As for the kid-friendly stuff … well, that’s mostly advertising. As you can see, this is a snack with some personality - Dora the Explorer’s personality, that is. So, you’re puttering around your cupboards for a snack and you can’t find anything decent. What about that oatmeal stacked behind the cereal? Who’s to say that oatmeal is only delicious and nutritious in the morning, huh? And how about throwing in a banana for some added flavor? The combination is a quick, easy snack. Sweet, warm, and creamy - it just tastes like home.
I’ve found that a great way to work nutritious foods into your diet is to just keep it simple. And this snack does that in spades. Let’s start with the oatmeal and work our way to the fruit of the matter, shall we?

I don’t like what many are now calling “health food.” I don’t like pasty, crumbly, sugar-free, fat-free, MUFFIN-free muffins. I don’t like food that is trying to be something it’s not. When it comes to mealtime, you’re not going to find me salivating over a couple sprouts and lettuce, and you certainly won’t find me pounding down a V8 while my friend, soda, sits lonely in the fridge. So, as you might imagine, dried and baked apples aren’t usually my snack of choice.
Then I tried them!
