Here’s something that I love to have for my 9 or 9:30pm snack while I’m watching some TV.
Man, this couldn’t be easier.
- Grab an apple.
- Grab a knife (be careful!).
- Grab a small plate.
- Grab the cinnamon.
- Definitely grab a napkin!
- Plant your butt in front of the TV!
- Use knife (be careful) procured in step 2 to make medium-sized slices of apples (apples were gathered in step 1). See photo for slice size.
- Unscrew cap of the cinnamon bottle.
- Target one of your apple slices.
- Gently tap on one side of the cinnamon jar so you get a light, even sprinkling of cinnamon on your targeted apple slice.
- Bring that spiced apple slice to your mouth and enjoy!
- Repeat until only the apple core is left.
It’s healthy. It’s easy. It’s fun (you feel like your cooking and adding spices to things!). And, it’s filling, satisfying and VERY tasty.

For an added twist, we put peanut butter, too! Yum!
BTW, your post will be included in this week’s edition of the Carnival of Family Life on November 19th at An Island Life.
Dear kailani:
i love added twists! good suggestion – peanut butter adds power protein, some healthy fats that we need and is just plain stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth fun to eat.
and thanks for including this post in your carnival. I’ll be sure to link back to it when it’s up.

We love snacking on apples in our household! Can never have enough of them on hand! We like the yellow Gala apples dipped in peanut butter or with cinnamon like your blog post.
Great idea – so simple – so healthy
I am diabetic and there has been some recent research that suggests that cinnamon spinkled on food lowers the effects of the carbs on your blood sugar, so I will give it a go.

even better version:
apples+cinnamon+cottage cheese!
i slice a red delicious apple very thin, mix LOTS of cinnamon into the cottage cheese (i use one half an individual container of Breakstone 2% cottage cheese per apple..45cals) and sprinkle cinnamon onto the apple slices as well! mmmm so tasty!
